Premium Fruit & Veggie Snacks

Most chips get their crunch from a bath of hot oil to get their crunchy texture. WowChips takes the opposite route and put them in a deep freeze. Each slice is frozen solid, which turns its water into tiny ice crystals held in place inside the structure of the fruit.
That freeze is what protects the chip’s shape. Because the structure is locked in before any water leaves, nothing can shrink, warp, or collapse along the way. It’s the foundation for everything that comes next, and it’s why freeze drying chips feel different compared to normal chips.

Next, the frozen slices move into a vacuum chamber, where something unusual happens. The ice never melts into liquid water. Instead, it turns straight into vapor, a process called sublimation.
Sublimation only works under the right conditions, and that’s what the vacuum is for. At normal air pressure, ice that warms up will melt first. But when the pressure in the chamber drops far enough, liquid water can no longer exist. The ice has nowhere to go but straight to vapor. Gentle, carefully controlled warmth supplies the energy for each ice crystal to make the jump, and the vapor is drawn away and captured on an extremely cold surface so it never settles back onto the chips.
Skipping the liquid stage is the secret. Melting would soften the chip and cause it to sag, but sublimation leaves behind a light, airy network of delicate walls. Every tiny pocket where an ice crystal used to sit becomes part of the crunch, a microscopic void that gives the chip its structure and its snap. The process happens slowly, crystal by crystal, which is why the chip keeps its original shape while becoming almost weightless.
Once the bulk of the ice is gone, a final drying phase gently removes the last traces of moisture still clinging to the chip’s walls. That leaves a chip that is completely dry, yet fully intact.

A freeze-dried chip is only as good as its temperature recipe. Every batch follows a carefully designed profile that tells the chamber exactly when to chill, when to warm, and how slowly to move between the two. Probes placed right alongside the chips read the real temperature of the product itself, not just the air around it, so the system always knows what the chips are feeling.
Every product has a tipping point, a temperature where its delicate walls begin to lose their shape. Our job is to stay comfortably below that line while still giving the process enough warmth to keep moving. Small, automatic adjustments happen throughout the cycle, and each run is logged from start to finish. That record is why the tenth bag you open tastes and sounds just like the first.

Because the water is removed rather than cooked out, every tiny wall in a WowChip stays intact and brittle. Those walls resist for a split second, then snap all at once. That sharp, clean break is the sound and feeling you remember.
